Work Process

Film Shoots

  • Each project begins with a strong visual concept, which we discuss together using mood boards and sample material. Based on this, we tailor the camera work, from well-lit interviews to atmospheric shots that can be seamlessly integrated with the interview material during editing. We use various techniques, such as tripods, handheld, shoulder-mounted cameras, gimbals, and sliders, depending on the project's needs.

The main camera is a Canon C70, a 4K cinema camera in a modular V-Mount rig. This camera can be easily adapted for various applications, from a larger V-Mount production rig to a compact gimbal rig. Additionally, drone shots are possible; I have a Mavic 3 Pro drone and an A1/A3 flying license. Flying at certain locations is subject to restrictions; more information can be found at godrone.nl. (This information applies to the Netherlands).

  • For a successful corporate or organisational video, a well-crafted script is essential. What do you want to convey, who will be speaking, and how will we structure the interviews? What film style will we use? For example, a documentary style where only the interviewee appears on-screen, and the gaze is directed towards the interviewer. In this approach, the question is incorporated into the answer, and we will take charge of directing it accordingly.

We carefully consider the location for the interviews. It should not only be relevant to the project but also visually appealing and suitable for audio recording. Optionally, we can work with a director to guide the interviews.

For audio, we use both transmitters and directional microphones to ensure extra safety and flexibility during editing.

Editing & Colour Grading

  • After the film shoots, we begin with the editing process. We first determine the desired duration and format of the video and work with the film script in mind to build the structure. We usually start by editing the interviews, focusing on the core message of the film and presenting it clearly within the agreed timeframe.

Once the audio and interview sections are complete, we proceed with adding atmospheric shots, graphic elements, and logos. Finally, we finish the film with colour grading.

If desired, we can also provide short versions or teasers of the video in various formats, suitable for use on social media channels and other platforms.

Additionally, the videos can be provided with subtitles in the spoken language or, if preferred, in another chosen language with the help of a translator.

For editing, we use DaVinci Resolve Studio 19, a program renowned for its excellent colour correction capabilities. If required, we can also edit using Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro.

Film Music

  • In addition to my work in film and photography, I am also active as a music producer, focusing on composing film music. I work both on commission and on personal projects from my project studio.

In video productions, stock music is often used. This offers many possibilities and is usually a practical choice, but the downside is that you might not be the only one using the chosen music in your video.

I offer the possibility to create unique film music specifically composed for your video. To fully realise my music production style, a certain degree of freedom and collaboration in the creative process is preferred.

Some examples of music in the context of film productions include: Streetview | De Adem van Amsterdam
